Child Safety Standards
Roamr has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page sets out the standards we operate under, how we prevent and respond to CSAE, and how anyone can report it to us. It applies to everyone who uses Roamr.
Our commitment
We prohibit CSAE absolutely, we design the product to reduce the risk of it, and we act on it whenever we become aware of it. We comply with the child-safety laws of the markets we operate in, and we cooperate with the authorities and with the recognised reporting bodies described below.
What is prohibited
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any sexualised depiction of a minor.
- Grooming, solicitation, or sexual extortion of a minor.
- Sexualising, trafficking, or endangering a minor in any form.
- Directing a minor to sexual content, or using Roamr to facilitate any of the above.
How we prevent and detect it
- Age rules. You must be at least 18 to use Roamr; we do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account.
- In-app reporting. Every post can be reported, and any account can be blocked, from inside the app — no account or form required beyond being signed in.
- Human review. Reports are reviewed, and we can remove content, restrict, or terminate accounts.
- Automated screening. Where enabled, uploaded images and captions are screened before a post goes live.
- Known-CSAM matching. Our standards require hash-matching against known CSAM (PhotoDNA). Where it is enabled, a match is handled by the separate preserve-and-report track below — never by silent deletion.
How to report CSAE
If you encounter CSAE on Roamr:
- Use Report on the post, or Block on the account, inside the app; or
- Email us at support@roamr.place — put "child safety" in the subject and we will prioritise it.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local law enforcement first.
What we do when we identify CSAE
CSAM is handled on a track that is deliberately separate from ordinary content moderation. When we identify it, we:
- Preserve the material and the associated account data — we do not quietly delete it, because deletion would destroy evidence.
- Report it to the appropriate authorities and reporting body as the law requires — in the United States, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) via its CyberTipline.
- Remove the content from view and terminate the account.
- Retain the records for as long as the law requires.
Legal compliance
We comply with applicable child-safety and mandatory-reporting laws, including, for the United States, 18 U.S.C. §2258A and the REPORT Act, and we cooperate with NCMEC. We follow the equivalent obligations in the other markets in which Roamr is made available.
